Do you ever feel like finances, location, job, etc keep you from really wearing what you'd most love to wear? Do you ever feel like your personal style doesn't really have a chance to display itself?
I've been feeling that way for quite some time now. Don't get me wrong...I'm content with what I wear, and it is definitely "me" in the sense that I appreciate the clothes that I wear and definitely am not dressing for anyone/anything besides myself. But at the same time, if money and life let me have my way, I'd have a pretty different wardrobe. I think deep down inside, my style is this gorgeous 40s-50s retro pinup thing...it's what I love the most, what I feel most comfortable in, and where my heart really lies style-wise. Maybe someday I'll find the time and money to invest in letting all that inside style out...until then, here's some recent inspiration:

I love the vintage inspiration of the 50's and 60's, I wish I could afford to dress in those lovely type of items too!
ReplyDeleteahhhh... I love love LOVE that belted white dress! I wish I had that to wear this 4th!!! Cute post!

I can see you wearing all of these! I love the first girl :)
ReplyDeleteall of these are really beautiful -- i'm inspired by anything that is vintage, especially if it's from the 1920's (my favorite decade, ha!)

I really miss the style of these days. It was so classic, and everyone dressed up all the time. Such a difference from how people dress now - Crocs, sweatpants, ponytails. Blah.

Love the photos, great inspiration :) I also feel that I would dress differently if money and life allowed! I love what I wear, but there is so much more I'd love to try!
ReplyDeleteYou know that I love this style :) Gorgeous pictures.
ReplyDeleteI think you could totally rock any of these vintage inspired looks. I can appreciate the beauty and femininity of the 40's pin-up look, even though I don't think I could personally wear it. I hope that you get to actualize this dream of a retro closet! Loved the second last look.
ReplyDeleteCompletely in the same boat... love the pictures!
ReplyDeletePretty, pretty inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYes I completely agree! I find myself getting sucked in to many trendy items, which I truly do like, but they stray from my personal style. I too feel most comfortable and am naturally drawn to more vintage looks, yet when I open my closet I hardly have any :/ Grr.

I love vintage style, I can relate a lot! It's so feminine and lovely!
ReplyDeletewould you like to follow each other dear?
I couldn't agree more! I'm definitely most drawn to this era, but sometimes sizing for a curvy gal like me is harder to find the further back you go. It's really rare that I shop modern stores anymore at this point, mainly because they are so expensive - but I could get lost for hours at antique malls and thrift stores which are definitely more healthy for my wallet:) All these images are stunning!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your sweet comment - following you too:) xx Marisa
the last picture is my favorite! i love the entire look -- especially her hair! i need to figure out how to do that :) xo

I hear ya- I would love to dress like a pin-up girl (in fact I did for a boudoir photo shoot!) It's so sassy and feminine, too bad my workplace won't go for it ;)
ReplyDeleteoh I totally know what you mean! But I'm also very finicky when it comes to styles. I like to mix silhouettes and stuff!

Aww thanks so much for including me in this lovely post! And may I encourage you it doesn't take a lot of money to dress in a vintage manner. Many of my clothes are modern thrifted pieces, or very on sale pieces, that I just style in a vintage manner. I love your style and I think you're darling.

really love the vintage inspiration and wish I had the money to explore so many other styles

Love these vintage photos, Cambria! I think you can find small ways to add vintage items into your wardrobe though even if you can't wear a total 40's outfit everyday! Start by adding small pieces like a skirt or earrings. That's what I do!

Money most definitely stops me from dressing how I want to! If it were no object I'd be head to toe in Celine. This is great inspo, I think it's actually pretty similar to how you dress! xxx
ReplyDeletethese outfits are so gorgeous! I love the retro pin-up look too, but for me it's not just lack of money in the way, but also a lack of that voluptuous 50s womanly figure! <3
ReplyDeletemetallicpaws.blogspot.com
I love these inspiration and I think you do have a 40s-50s style to your outfits (and pictures) though. Although I do agree with you about location and finances as a barrier to wearing something that I would actually like to wear. But haha oh well, I have polyvore when I really want to make outfits but don't have the money to buy it!
ReplyDeleteLove all those vintage inspired looks - and I totally get what you mean about your lifestyle and clothing. I work from home, so I have all the freedom in the world to dress how I want, but sometimes not having anyone to see makes getting dressed no fun!
ReplyDeleteEach and every one of these is amazing! AMAZING! love it!
