"February's Mercury"

Today's topic: Vintage.

First item:  I am attending a vintage gala event at the Minneapolis Institute of Art on Thursday night, and I am sooooooo unbelievably excited!  I don't know what I'm most excited for -- the beautific art galleries, vintage fashion show, photobooth, or hundreds of other vintage lovers.
Or maybe in all honesty I'm just excited to have somewhere to dress all-out retro...the only problem will be choosing just one outfit to wear.

And secondly item: these dresses from ASOS...there can't possibly be another place out there that offers such cheap "knock-off vintage"!  For YEARS, I have been looking for somewhere to buy 40s-50s style dresses for dirt cheap prices...and I think I finally found it.  My only complaint with the dress below is that it was supposed to be red -- aaaaaand it's actually orange. Blah.  Any dyeing tips for me?!

  2. Have fun at the gala event, I definitely understand how exciting the prospect is of being able to wear full out vintage and not get skew looks from strangers!

  5. I'm sorry it's the wrong color. I've dyed a lot of things with Rit and I personally wouldn't reccomend dyeing it that way. It's easier to dye smaller things, but a dress this new with so much fabric - it's very hard to get an even coverage. Maybe a professional could dye it??

Anyway, the color looks great on you - you can rock those warm tones!

  7. Oh I would LOVE to attend a vintage gala- that sounds just marvelous! I would have a hard time deciding what to wear too...how fun. This is such a darling dress! Bummer that it wasn't the color you expected, but I think this is a great color anyway :) The neutral cardigan is so pretty too! I love the texture of it. Have a blessed day darling!

  14. I really love the color of your dress, but if you do want to dye it, I know October Rebel dyes her clothes often. Your hair looks amazing, too! I can't wait to hear about your night at the vintage gala!
